Excali didn’t know why he’d been left behind here.[break][break]

He didn’t want to be apart from his companion! More like—his owner! He still had to suck the life force out of the strange, white-haired purple-eyed individual, but for some reason the human looked to be rather busy, and had decided to drop him off to be taken care of in the meantime here.[break][break]

With the other Pokémon.[break][break]

He knew that he had a penchant for scaring the others within the slowly-growing army that his human was amassing, but for some reason whenever he offered any of the other Pokémon to grab his hilt, they all said no.[break][break]

Why was that?[break][break]

He couldn’t understand.[break][break]

Either way, he was now here. Floating along and ignoring everything around him, looking absolutely despondent and out of it.[break][break]

Why was he left here?[break][break]

Did his human no longer love him?[break][break]

olivia dropped off her raging carvanha in a hurry, as her duties always kept the ocean queen busy. especially too busy to deal with the ego bruised chione. the daycare staff took him happily enough, and after a warning to keep him away from other pokemon, they left the fish in a solitary tank.

chione was salty. salty like the sea. he lost to a stupid LIZARD. a LIZARD. a LAND WALKER. HOW. WHY. HOW. WHY. these questions kept swimming through his mind as he rammed his head into the tank over and over, the sound echoing through the hall.

There were a lot of advantages to being part-Ghost.[break][break]

One of these was being able to phase through walls and other solid shit.[break][break]

Which, of course, the humans were completely unaware of. They knew that they left the Honedge somewhere outside, but boy, they must’ve forgotten to check on him because they thought he was a Steel-type![break][break]

Explain my hilt, then! The dual-type thought angrily, floating around and brandishing the sheath he held wrapped around the waved blue cloth that made up half of his being. As he floated around the area, wondering why the rest of the Pokémon avoided him, he thought he could hear something…sharp.[break][break]

Banging, banging—it drew his attention.[break][break]

Oh? What could that be? The Honedge continued to muse, quietly phasing through the wall—and causing a clattering noise a few moments later as his hilt almost got stuck in the wall.[break][break]

Damn it, he still needed to practice his phasing so he could scare the human he cohabited with.[break][break]

Seeing the source of the banging noise happened to be a fish tank, the Honedge casually floated his way up to the tank—and came face to face with an angry-looking Carvanha, still slamming its head repeatedly into the glass.[break][break]

“You know if you keep doing that you’re going to break the glass,” the Honedge hummed—well, more like grated out. Seeing as he sounded like nails scraping down a blackboard when he spoke…

chione kept up the banging, rage fueling him beyond what should be normal. or a concussion. it really could be either. the sound was enough to attract an unwanted visitor. a sword. a sTUPID. METAL. SWORD. WAS. TALKING. TO. HIM. WHY.

through his razor sharp teeth, the carvanha bubbled, "wHAT. DO. YOU. WANT." in between bangs. a crack was starting to form in the glass. "THAT. IS. THE. POINT. STUPID. SWORD." he growled even louder. maybe this could work.

“You know,” the Honedge grated, flailing its sheath around to point at the cracks forming in the glass, “…if you keep going like that, you’re going to die. I mean it,” he hummed, although to anyone else listening nearby his humming was the equivalent sound of nails scraping down a blackboard.[break][break]

Which, to him, was perfectly fine.[break][break]

“Do you want to die, then?” he asks the Carvanha, nonplussed at the blatant stupidity that the other Pokémon was doing, trying to smash its way out of the tank. “Why were you put in solitary confinement?” he muses a few moments later, floating up higher so that the lone eye in his hilt was now staring eerily at the dual-type.[break][break]

“Surely you don’t want to be trapped in there, right?” he continues, a darker hint creeping through the flushed cloth hilt he possessed—turning slightly darker.[break][break]

“I can break you out, if you want. What do you say?” he offers to the Carvanha.[break][break]

Who knows when the humans would notice the dang uproar the dual-type in the tank was causing.[break][break]

“I can get you outside to the pond, rather than in here all alone…” he continues, a bit of a taunting lilt in his scraping, edgy voice.

the banging pauses. maybe the stick of metal was on to something. a pond. yes. food. yes. prey. yes. yES! "YES! TO THE POND!" chione gargled from the water.

only for a moment though, because if a SPLASH, he aqua jetted up and was trying to bite onto the honedge. "TO THWFAF PONFDS!" he tried to say, but his jaw was full of sword.

Excali wasn’t expecting the hot-headed Pokémon to take the offer so quickly—he’d only floated up slightly higher towards the opening of the aquarium before he felt his center of gravity shift violently downward as the Carvanha grabbed on tight—quite literally—onto his blade.[break][break]

“You leave a tooth in my blade, I’m going to stab you,” the Honedge growled as he struggled to float back in the air now that he had an extra couple pounds hanging off his blade. “Watch the hilt and the cloth, now!” he huffs a few moments later, floating through the air—mercifully out of sight of the humans that minded the place.[break][break]

It takes a while for the odd travelling pair to find a window that’s open wide enough for them to slip through, and the Honedge knows he has to move fast.[break][break]

The longer a Water-type stays out of its natural habitat, the crankier they get…[break][break]

While he knows the other is hanging onto him for dear life, it isn’t until he sees the pond out back does he point downward.[break][break]

“Alright, we’re here. You can drop off now,” he says, subtly trying to get the other to slide off his blade because ouch, what if he left bite marks all over the blade?

he hated being out of the water. it was... unnatural. shuddering, he held onto dear life with his dagger like teeth. finally, they were hovering above the pond and chione plunged into the pond.

a huge SPLASH went sky high and chione began looking for prey, his eyes brimming with hunger. "FINALLY."

Thankfully, his passenger had finally dropped down with a resounding splash into the pool of water. Now that he was wet, Excali shook himself dry, because what in the actual hell—if he didn’t dry himself then there would be rust spots forming all over his blade![break][break]

“Please don’t tell me you’re going to be killing some of the other Pokémon here,” the sentient blade inquired, rubbing the cloth of its supernatural hilt all over his blade in an effort to get it dry.[break][break]

“Or are you going to try looking for something else?”[break][break]

As he said this, he floated higher, out of reach of the grumpy Carvanha. He still kept an eye on the other Pokémon, though, because who knew what the hell it was going to do if he didn’t keep an eye on the surly aquatic creature.[break][break]

Once his precursory drying of the blade was done, he then began to float off, lone eye still affixed on the Carvanha.[break][break]

“See, that wasn’t so bad now, was it? Better out here than inside that sorry excuse of a tank, correct?” he confirmed, making a grating noise which was equal to laughter for the Honedge at least.

the metal clanking was right. this was better. bigger. more space. he got more space. he needed to take more space. the food here took more space. ate more. were more.

he needed to be more.

a bright light enveloped the fish pokemon as his roar shook the waves and thundered aloud.

he was BIG, and greeted the sword with a squirt of water.
